SHE said she wears a full
-sized panty, but on Sunday she was accused of stealing a R29 small sized
G-string along with her friends.
Mancha Maraba (23) from
Alexandra was knocking off from work at Woodmead Shopping Centre’s
Mr Price when she was found in possession of the underwear.
She claims it was planted in
her bag. She said it was normal for employees to be searched before they left
work.
But on Sunday, her handbag
was sent to the fitting room and her manager sent security guards to search it
while he was watching.
They found the panty but she
said she doesn’t know where it came from. Mancha said she didn’t
ever wear G-strings. “I was shocked when my manager said they had found a
panty in my handbag. I will never steal and risk the job that supports my mum
and my two-year-old daughter.
“And I wear full-sized panties. G-strings are not my
thing,” she said.
Mancha, who had worked for Mr
Price as a visual merchandiser for two years, said her relationship with her
boss has been bad ever since she started at the Woodmead outlet.
She claims he doesn’t
like her because she knows more about the company than him.
Mancha’s
mum, Caroline (59), (pictured above) was with her when she appeared in court. She said she had
never known her daughter to steal.
“She will always ask you if she wants something. I want
to see my daughter’s name cleared. These allegations can ruin her life,”
said the angry mum.
Mancha said it would be
difficult to go back to work and she wanted to take action against the company
and her manager.
The shop didn’t
want to comment.
